Ah, young love. One moment, it feels as though a romance is at the center of the universe; the next moment, it’s out of sight and out of mind.
At least, that’s how The Young and the Restless (Y&R) apparently feels about its budding new couple of Noah Newman and Allie Nguyen, since portrayers Rory Gibson and Kelsey Wang will be sidelined for the foreseeable future.
This news comes as Gibson and Wang have been dropped from contract status to recurring status, according to Soap Opera News.

This casting revision comes at a curious time, since Noah and Allie’s romance has just reached its first major test, thanks to the return of Noah’s volatile ex, Audra (played by Zuleyka Silver).
However, it’s possible that special character returns and 50th anniversary celebrations are being prioritized over this storyline for the time being.
While this will be Gibson’s first time on recurring status, Wang previously dealt with the arrangement when she played Daisy on General Hospital (GH) – and she didn’t like it!
“They only used me once a month, so I was auditioning for other stuff,” Wang told Soap Opera Digest in September. “I was offered the lead of an independent film right after I booked GH, but the shoot dates didn’t work, so I couldn’t do it.”
“Then I booked a guest star on The Resident and they needed me for a week and a half in Atlanta,” Wang continued, “but one of those days coincided with GH and the same thing happened with Station 19.”
Let’s hope Y&R doesn’t keep Gibson and Wang on the back-burner for too long, as it sounds like at least one half of this couple really dislikes recurring contracts.
“I really wanted to do these other projects, but there were these conflicts, which was very frustrating,” Wang concluded.
