Sarah Jessica Parker has openly addressed Kim Cattrall’s noticeable absence as Samantha Jones in the Sex and the City revival.
On Sunday, Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis shared a teaser trailer confirming the news of Sex and the City revival titled And Just Like That. Fans quickly realized that the revival did not include Cattrall, who played the role of Samantha Jones in the original series.
Parker addressed Cattrall’s absence from the revival in the comments section of her post. “Happy to see you back but will miss Kim/Samantha,” one fan wrote, to which Parker replied, “We will too. We loved her so. X.”
Another fan questioned Cattrall’s absence to which Parker replied, “She will always be there. And we are so excited. X.”
Cattrall has publicly shared on multiple occasions that she would never return to the franchise, which is why it wasn’t surprising to see that she wouldn’t be appearing on the revival. Cattral and Parker have had ongoing issues for many years and Cattrall has openly admitted that her relationship with Parker is not amicable.
One fan explicitly asked Parker if she dislikes Cattrall to which Parker replied, “No. I don’t dislike her. I’ve never said that. Never would. Samantha isn’t part of this story,” she wrote. “But she will always be part of us. No matter where we are or what we do. X.”
