Yesterday, the entertainment world was shocked to hear the news that beloved entertainer and actor Alan Thicke had passed away at the age of 69.
Following his abrupt death after suffering a heart attack while playing hockey with his son Carter on Tuesday, December 13, his oldest son, singer Robin Thicke, spoke out to People magazine, remembering his father. “He was the greatest man I ever met,” he said of his father, adding, “the good thing was that he was beloved and he had closure.”
Although Alan’s death was sudden and unexpected, Thicke had recently spent time with his dad. “I saw him a few days ago and told him how much I loved and respected him,” Robin stated of seeing his father just days before his death.
Just a few days prior to his death, Alan’s wife Tanya shared an adorable Instagram photo of the pair in their car with the caption, “I’ve got the cutest designated driver EVER!!!!” The Growing Pains star is survived by his wife Tanya and his three sons: Robin, Carter and Brennan.
