It’s time to say goodbye to Riverdale!
The CW has announced that Riverdale’s seventh season will also be its last. The network announced the news on Thursday and called the series “an iconic [show] that shaped and defined popular culture.”
The final episodes of Riverdale will premiere midseason, but no debut, finale date or number of episodes have been confirmed.
Riverdale debuted on The CW back in January 2017. The show was a launchpad for the careers of stars KJ Apa, Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes, and Cole Sprouse. The show also served as the last role for the iconic star Luke Perry who sadly passed in 2019 at the age of 52 after suffering a stroke.
Cole Sprouse opened up about his experience on the show to Entertainment Tonight ahead of the show’s 100th episode.. “It’s been a wild ride,” Sprouse shared in December 2021. “I think I’m very lucky that people took to the show, and it’s created an absolutely stellar platform for all of the young actors on the show to — when the show eventually wraps itself — go, ‘My God, that was a huge opportunity,’ and it served as a huge opportunity for us.”
Lili Reinhart also opened up about the show’s conclusion around the same time during an Instagram Live. “I don’t know. We’re hoping for a season seven,” she said, adding that it will “probably be the last one.”
