MTV has had a lot of hits and misses when it comes to their reality TV shows, but one of the most surprising successes was Jersey Shore which ran for six seasons from 2009-2012.
Now, as the network revisits the theme with their newest series Floribama Shore, they are also going back to their roots and bringing the original cast back for a special in 2018. During the Floribama Shore premiere on Monday, November 27 it was announced that the original guidos and guidettes will be returning for Jersey Shore Family Vacation.
While the new series will catch up with original cast members including Paul “Pauly D” Delvecchio, Jenni “JWOWW” Farley, Vinny Guadagnino, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, Deena Nicole Cortese, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, and Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, it seems as though Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola will not be participating, but there was no reason given for her absence.
JWOWW spoke to TooFab about the cast wanting a reunion series for quite some time now and had been talking with the show’s creator SallyAnn Salsano about it. “Me and SallyAnn have been in like group chat with the whole cast like, ‘Let’s do this. Let’s kick down MTV’s doors’ ’cause everyone’s down,” she said. “Everyone is in the group chat and we talk constantly, everyday, all day, all the cast mates and we talk constantly with the creator of the show and we’re like, ‘We need to do this. I just need to be in bed my 9 p.m.'”
JWOWW, who is now a mom of two, added that the reason she most wants a reboot is so that Sorrentino can show people how much he has changed. “Mike is one of my nearest and dearest right now,” she added. “He is so sweet that I’ve been saying I want the reboot to happen just for him. Just for him. Just for Mike to have a second chance because we left with such a bad taste in our mouth the last season, all of us, we never spoke for five years to Mike. I love him so much right now, I would love to do it just for him. Just to give him a second chance.”
