Mariah Carey Struggles Through Tree Lighting Performance

Songstress Mariah Carey has not had it easy with her involvement in this year’s Tree Lighting Ceremony at Rockefeller Center in New York City.

The known diva angered NBC execs after she showed up more than three hours late for a taped performance on Tuesday December 2, for which she later apologized on Twitter, writing, “Last night’s situation was beyond my control. I apologize to all that showed up, you know I would never want to disappoint you.”

She was then counted on to show up for her live performance on Wednesday (Dec. 3) night, and while she did make it, it seems her vocals did not as Carey struggled through her performance of “All I want For Christmas Is You.”

While the performance with music sounds bearable, a video of just her isolated vocals was released and it is obvious it was difficult not only for Carey to hit her signature high notes but to even breathe at times.

Not only was the singing a problem, Carey also had issues with her wardrobe. While she was singing, she attempted to take off her shawl but it became snagged on the wires connected to her ear piece, so the shawl swung behind her and left her struggling to readjust the piece in her ear.

After she finally got through the song, she joked to the crowd, “Merry Christmas! I’m getting a new coat!”

Check out the isolated track version of her performance below!
