The Oscars are a long and drawn out affair, and rightfully so as arguably the biggest night for the biggest names in the entertainment industry. So, in case you missed all of the highlights, one was most definitely Lady Gaga’s chill-inducing performance dedicated to The Sound of Music.
While Gaga, 28, started off on the wrong foot with her ridiculous red gloves throwing off her red carpet look, she stripped them off and hit all the right notes for her tribute performance including the songs, “My Favorite Things,” “Edelweiss” and “Climb Ev’ry Mountain.”
Social media instantly reacted with unending praise for the star who also forwent her trademark crazy makeup and costumes for the emotional rendition and even garnered an onstage appearance from the 1965 film’s original Maria, Julie Andrews.
At 79 years old Andrews looked absolutely stunning as usual as she hugged the singer and stated, “Dear Lady Gaga, thank you for that wonderful tribute. It really warmed my heart. It really did.”
Even though country superstar Carrie Underwood recently revived the classic musical for the NBC production in 2013 which had huge ratings, many would not be upset if there was another reboot featuring Lady Gaga after Sunday’s incredible performance.
