Former Grey’s Anatomy star Isaiah Washington has opened up further about working with co-star Katherine Heigl on the set of the show.
Washington and Heigl worked together on the early seasons of Grey’s Anatomy. On Monday night, Washington called Heigl out on her behavior back then by posting a photo of Heigl and accusing her of declaring that he should never be allowed to speak publicly.
“This woman once proclaimed that I should ‘never’ be allowed to speak publicly again,” Washington began. “The world agreed with her proclamation back then and protested for my job and my head in 65 languages. I wish I was on Twitter in 2007, because I will NEVER stop exercising my free speech.”
A fan responded to Washington offering words of comfort by saying, “What speaks to your strength are the lessons you have learned and how you have moved on in a positive way.”
Washington responded to the fan by sharing, “I’ve learned that all money ain’t good money and no amount of money can replace your dignity and integrity. Some call it living by your principles.”
This is not the first time that Washington and Heigel have become entangled in a public dispute. Heigl previously alleged that Washington had made a homophobic slur towards their co-star T.R. Knight on-set.
Washington addressed the claim at the 2007 Golden Globe Awards to which Heigl reportedly declared that Washington “needs to just not speak in public.”
Grey’s Anatomy showrunner Shonda Rhimes also seems to have a negative opinion of Heigl. In a 2014 interview when speaking on her new show Scandal, Rhimes shared, “There are no Heigls in this situation. I don’t put up with bullsh** or nasty people. I don’t have time for it.”
