Now this is the kind of revival fans can get behind!
After years of passionate Veronica Mars fans begging for the show to come back and even crowd-sourcing a Veronica Mars movie in 2014, it seems the popular detective may finally be coming back to TV.
Multiple outlets have reported that Hulu currently has a Veronica Mars revival in the works and has been developing the reboot for several months, and most importantly star Kristen Bell is on board to reprise her iconic role!
Additionally, the reports state that creator Rob Thomas is also on board to return and write the new series.
As fans remember, Veronica Mars never got the fair shake it deserved despite praise from critics and fans alike. The series first aired on UPN in 2004 and later moved to the CW where it was canceled in 2007 after three seasons.
Last October, Bell hinted that a revival of the series might be closer than fans think when she said, “We are willing to put the effort in. I mean, if I have to do it as Murder, She Wrote at 80, we’re going to do it. It’s going to happen.”
“Rob and I email about it every couple of months or so,” she noted. “And personally I think — and I think Rob probably agrees — is that (a) we’ll never make the fans pay for it again and (b) the format works better as an episodic [series].”
Of course, at the moment Bell is busy starring in the new comedy The Good Place which is entering its second season this fall, but fans of that series don’t have to worry either. Entertainment Weekly is reporting that the actress will be able to star in both shows without conflict.
