It looks like former NCIS star Pauley Perrette might be making her way back to CBS in a whole new way!
The popular actress who starred as forensic scientist Abby Sciuto on the long-running police procedural drama NCIS for 15 season has been cast has the lead in a new comedy called Broke! CBS has ordered a pilot episode for the series which has Perrette playing Jackie, a single mom who agrees to take in her flat-broke sister and brother-in-law.
The official logline for the new comedy reads: “The manager of a bar, Jackie is feisty, not easily cowed, sometimes hot-headed, the kind of woman who knows her way around a toolbox and an acetylene torch. She’s not thrilled when her snobby rich sister and husband suddenly show up on her doorstep, but she comes to remember how much she loves her sister and learns to appreciate them both in her life.”
The show comes from creator Jennie Synder Urman, best known for her work on Jane the Virgin, while Jane the Virgin star Jaime Camil has been cast as Miguel, Jackie’s brother-in-law.
While fans of Perrette would love to see her return to the small-screen in a whole new character and series genre, Broke! still has to be picked up to series order by CBS before it will air.
Perrette left NCIS in May 2018, shocking fans with claims that there was an incident on set and she had endured many “physical assaults.” In response CBS said, “Pauley Perrette had a terrific run on NCIS and we are all going to miss her. Over a year ago, Pauley came to us with a workplace concern. We took the matter seriously and worked with her to find a resolution. We are committed to a safe work environment on all our shows.”
