Nicholas Brendon has been arrested after an alleged domestic dispute with his girlfriend, according to E! News.
Police were called to a hotel in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., after the actor got into an argument with his girlfriend and allegedly choked her, police said Thursday.
Brendon is best known for his role as Xander Harris on the popular television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Kevin Lynch on Criminal Minds. He has also appeared in other series including, Married with Children, Kitchen Confidential and Without a Trace.
According to the Saratoga Springs police Lieutenant Bob Jillson, he is now facing charges of robbery, obstruction of breathing and criminal mischief.
Jillson told E! News the fight broke out when Brendon’s girlfriend stopped by to drop off his personal belongings and he wouldn’t let her leave. After getting into an argument, he allegedly pinned her against the wall and began choking her. According to a police report, she did not sustain any injuries.
It is suspected alcohol was involved, said Jillson. Brendon will face charges of third-degree robbery, a felony, two counts of criminal mischief and one count of obstruction of breathing.
This will be Brendon’s fourth run-in with the law this year. E! News reported he was arrested back in May for public intoxication, and again in February and March for trashing hotel rooms while intoxicated. In June, his manager announced he would be attending a treatment program for alcoholism and depression.
Fox News has reported that Brendon was released from jail on Thursday after posting a $20,000 bond, but he hasn’t spoken out about the arrest.
