Rena Sofer has opened up about her decision to leave The Bold and the Beautiful (B&B).
The actress, whose final appearance as Quinn Fuller airs today, clearly expected more for her character and didn’t see any promising storylines ahead.
“You want to shine and you want to be the best that that character can be,” Sofer told Soap Opera Digest’s podcast, Dishing With Digest, “and sometimes, that’s the heartbreak.”
Sofer shared that while her contract had expired in May, the star waited well into July for B&B to address her status going forward.
“And then, on the week before my last shooting week is when they reached out to me,” Sofer explained. “[They] said, ‘Hey, we don’t really know what’s going on with Quinn, but can you stay on a recurring basis until we figure it out?’”

Sofer, who had no desire to languish on recurring status while her character was on the back-burner, realized then and there it was time to leave.
“I just felt like if my decision wasn’t set at that point, that kind of made it clear that they just didn’t know what to do with Quinn,” the beloved actress continued, “and I felt like I deserved more than just sitting around until they figured it out.”
Her character’s romance with Carter (Lawrence Saint Victor) was a storyline Sofer expected B&B to invest in.
“Especially at the end of the whole ‘Quarter’ story, there was still so much to do,” Sofer elaborated. “So I told them I was leaving and Brad [Bell] called me and he really wanted me to stay.”
Something tells us that Sofer won’t be away from daytime drama for long, as General Hospital has already been in touch with her.
