32. Hit: Natalie Portman

Natalie Portman stepped out at the 2020 Oscars wearing a dress that reminded many of her Star Wars days. The black and gold embellished dress was designed by Dior and featured a sheer neckline and gold braids that cinched in at her waist. She topped the look off with a black cape which had the names of snubbed female directors embellished onto the lapel as an act of female empowerment.

31. Miss: Florence Pugh

Florence Pugh stepped out at the 2020 Oscars wearing an aqua-colored gown that featured a v-neckline and tiered ruffles. While we absolutely love this color, we’re not sure the shape of this dress was the most flattering with the heavy ruffles and high-low hemline.

30. Hit: Kristin Cavallari

Kristin Cavallari stepped out wearing a stunning powder blue gown for the 2020 Oscars that definitely reminded us of a modern-day Cinderella dress. The look featured a soft sweetheart neckline and a flattering ruching around the waist. She topped the look with a diamond choker and matching silver earrings.

29. Miss: Tamron Hall

Tamron Hall stepped out at the 2020 Oscars wearing a sleek black dress that featured a heavy beaded collar. While this look was certainly unique, we’re not sure we were the biggest fans since the collar and rest of the dress didn’t seem to flow together well and appeared mismatched.

28. Hit: Chrissy Metz

Chrissy Metz dazzled in red at the 2020 Oscars where she stepped out wearing this chiffon dress with an elegant off-the-shoulder-neckline. We love how she paired this with long mermaid waves and a red lip which coordinated perfectly.

27. Miss: Blac Chyna

Blac Chyna missed the mark with her Oscars look this year which featured a plunging neckline, thigh-high slit, and cobalt embellishment. We felt this look was a little too revealing for the classy Oscars and the blue fringe on the shoulders and sleeves felt out of place.

26. Hit: Kaitlyn Dever

Kaitlyn Dever looked stunning at the 2020 Oscars where she opted for a sleek red dress. We absolutely love the shape of this dress and the sweetheart neckline which felt super elegant. She topped the look with a red sash which she draped around her shoulders and added the perfect Hollywood glamour quality.

25. Miss: America Ferrera

America Ferrera stepped out wearing a lovely burgundy dress for the 2020 Oscars, but we have to admit we weren’t huge fans of her accessory choice. While she looked adorable cradling her budding baby bump, we’re not sure the gold headband across her forehead was the most flattering option to pair with the dress.

24. Hit: Janelle Monae

Janelle Monae definitely had one of the most unique dresses for the 2020 Oscars. Her look consisted of a crystal-embellished A-line gown that featured a sparkling hood which she draped elegantly on her head. If there’s any place to wear a crystal-embellished hood and look totally glam, it’s the Oscars!

23. Miss: Laura Dern

Laura Dern was one of the most celebrated actresses of the evening at the 2020 Oscars; however, we have to admit we weren’t the biggest fans of her dress choice. The pale pink number featured a luxe satin material which was embellished with black fringe tassels on the bodice. The tassels felt a little out of place with this look, which made it a miss in our books.

22. Hit: Julia Louis-Dreyfus

Julia Louis-Dreyfus went the sleek and simple route with her look for the 2020 Oscars! The actress wore a stunning sapphire-colored gown in a slinky silk material which she accessorized with a glitzy diamond necklace.

21. Miss: Kelly Marie Tran

Kelly Marie Tran opted for a voluminous black dress for the 2020 Oscars that we, unfortunately, weren’t the biggest fans of. The look featured a drop-style waist and a full skirt, but the hemline where these two materials met was asymmetrical, which made the entire look appear a little messy.

20. Hit: Penelope Cruz

Penelope Cruz dazzled in a black Chanel dress for the 2020 Oscars. We love the simplistic elegance of this look but the halter-neckline, tulle rose detail and pearl waistband added some dimension and feminine detailing.

19. Miss: Billie Eilish

Billie Eilish opted for a Chanel suit for the 2020 Oscars that we admittedly have to consider a fashion miss. The look had Chanel logos embellished all over it which took away from the elegance and sophistication of a classic Chanel tweed suit.

18. Hit: Salma Hayek

Salma Hayek dazzled in this whimsical white number for the 2020 Oscars. The look featured soft tulle ruching along the bodice which draped into a floaty asymmetrical sleeve. We love how feminine and airy this look feels!

17. Miss: Maya Rudolph

Maya Rudolph opted for burnt orange sequins for the 2020 Oscars that we have to admit we weren’t convinced by. While we love this color on Rudolph, the dress had no shape to it and hung awkwardly with the one-sided sleeve.

16. Hit: Lily Aldridge

Lily Aldridge was one of the hosts of the red carpet this year, but we couldn’t help but admire her own lovely white dress! Her look featured soft pleating trailing the skirt and a red rose embellishment at the waist. She coordinated her lip color with the pop of red on her dress and wore glitzy diamond earrings for some added sparkle.

15. Miss: Saoirse Ronan

Saoirse Ronan opted for a peplum-style dress for the 2020 Oscars that we felt was an unfortunate fashion miss. While the top of the dress is quite funky, yet still elegant, with the black and white peplum, we felt it didn’t flow with the lilac-colored skirt which felt like it had come from an entirely different dress.

14. Hit: Brie Larson

Brie Larson absolutely dazzled at the 2020 Oscars where she rocked this blush pink sparkling number with a floor-length cape! There was something so feminine and glitzy about this look and we saw nothing like it on the red carpet which definitely made it stand out.

13. Hit: Cynthia Erivo

Cynthia Erivo looked so glamorous at the 2020 Oscars where she opted for this white voluminous dress with a metallic sequin bodice. We love how the skirt of this dress flared out to emphasize an hourglass figure and the asymmetrical detailing of the neckline was stunning.

12. Miss: Rooney Mara

Rooney Mara wore a black lace look for the 2020 Oscars that we weren’t the biggest fans of. The look felt heavy and awkward with the cutouts, ruffled skirt, and puffed shoulders.

11. Hit: Margot Robbie

Margot Robbie looked gorgeous on the Oscars red carpet this year where she opted for a black strapless look. We love the sapphire brooch embellishment on the chest and the elegant off-the-shoulder neckline with this look.

10. Miss: Lucy Boynton

Lucy Boynton had a red carpet miss at the 2020 Oscars where she opted for a black dress with a tiered skirt and poofy shoulders. This look simply lacked a red-carpet glitz quality with its monochrome color scheme and casual Peter Pan collar.

9. Hit: Charlize Theron

Charlize Theron opted for a striking black number for the 2020 Oscars. The Dior look fit her like a glove and featured an asymmetrical neckline where one sleeve draped elegantly off her shoulder, which we loved.

8. Miss: Kristen Wiig

Kristen Wiig rocked a dramatic red dress for the 2020 Oscars that was far too theatrical for the classy event. The number featured strange protruding ruffles from the side of the gown which made it feel like something that would have been much better suited for an experimental red carpet like the Met Gala.

7. Hit: Mindy Kaling

Mindy Kaling was undeniably one of the best-dressed women of the evening at the 2020 Oscars. We love how the canary yellow color of this dress does all the talking but the gown still has pretty details to it like this one-shoulder neckline and pleating around the waist.

6. Miss: Gal Gadot

Gal Gadot had a fashion miss at this year’s 2020 Oscars. The actress opted for a black and pink gown which featured a full-lace bodice and a foofy tulle skirt. The combination of these two fabrics seemed a strange choice to pair together and didn’t flow together well.

5. Hit: Reneé Zellweger

Reneé Zellweger looked so elegant at the 2020 Oscars where she wore this white sequined one-shoulder number. The dress featured soft pink beading which was laced on with pale blue thread which gave an iridescent quality and dimension to the dress.

4. Miss: Sandra Oh

Sandra Oh opted for a champagne-colored number for the 2020 Oscars which featured a combination of ruffled tulle and heavy sequins. While we actually don’t mind the skirt and sequins on this dress, we felt the voluminous sleeves were overkill and that the dress would have been much more elegant and simple without that detail incorporated.

3. Hit: Scarlett Johansson

Scarlett Johansson stole the show in this silver strapless dress she wore to the 2020 Oscars. The shape of this dress showed off her figure perfectly and the unique metallic embellishment on the bodice definitely made this number stand out from the crowd.

2. Miss: Olivia Colman

Olivia Colman had a fashion miss at the 2020 Oscars where she stepped out wearing this dark velvet number. While we love the texture and shape of this dress, the cutouts on the sleeves felt out of place and a little awkward.

1. Hit: Regina King

Of all the red carpet dresses at this year’s 2020 Oscars, our favorite has to be this pale pink number worn by Regina King. The look featured a full skirt, an asymmetrical neckline and soft silver beading along the bodice which came together for a truly breathtaking red carpet moment.
