Grammys 2017: 11 Worst Dressed Stars

On Sunday, February 12th some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry descended upon the Staples Center in Los Angeles for the 59th Annual Grammy Awards. Although perhaps the biggest nights in music for Hollywood superstars, it is also one of the biggest nights for fashion and as always all eyes were on the winners and losers of the red carpet before honoring the best in music. As always, there were some questionable red carpet styles and while some fashion risks paid off, they certainly didn’t for these 11 stars. Here are the worst dressed of the 2017 Grammy Awards:

11. Elle King

Elle King was more than ready for spring with her floral number, but it was just a little too much. The off-the-shoulder gown with accentuated shoulders and a flowing skirt was an excellent choice for the awards show, but the floral appliques were not. There was just far too many floral graphics on King’s gown matched with a floral headband, taking it from edgy yet elegant to just tacky.

10. Adele

Adele was without a doubt the star of the show for the 2017 Grammys, with five wins we sure saw a lot of her and her outfit choice for the night. The stunning singer opted for a conservative Givenchy gown with a high neck and long sleeves, which if in a different color could have been interesting, but the green drew far too many comparisons to a pickle.

9. Rihanna

Rihanna never has any problems turning heads on the red carpet, and while she has been one of the best dressed at past Grammy Awards, this was not her year. Instead of a gorgeous gown, the singer instead wore a Armani Prive tangerine sequined sports bra which is most definitely not Grammy appropriate. She paired the sports bra with an oversized black sateen skirt , and while her hair and makeup looked stunning, that was the only good thing that could be said about her red carpet look.

8. Tori Kelly

Singer Tori Kelly was one of the few to rock a dark hue on the red carpet, and while the forest green was an excellent choice, the rest of the dress did not do her justice. There were far too many ruffles going in every direction and the dress also included a high-low hem which was just another element to the dizzying design. In this case it seems Kelly would have been better off following the less is more rule.

7. Solange Knowles

There was a lot going on with Solange Knowles’ red carpet look and none of it quite came together. The singer donned a gold Gucci gown with everything from a peplum waist, pleats, a statement sleeve and a thigh high slit. The entire dress looked like mismatched pieces put together to make one dress, and we just know she could have done much better.

6. Taraji P. Henson

Empire actress Taraji P. Henson’s Grammy’s look was out of this world, unfortunately just not in a good way. The star donned a purple mini dress, which on its own could have been very nice, but the planet and star graphic embellishments just seemed out of the place on the sophisticated star.

5. Halsey

While a lot of stars seemed to be going for the throwback ’80s look, Halsey instead aimed for the ’90s, and as we all know, the ’90s was not known for its fashion. The singer wore a blue satin jacket with matching parachute pants, and instead of a shirt, opted for a long bodychain necklace instead. The no shirt and jacket look has become increasingly popular, but usually with a tailored suit, not something stolen out of TLC’s closet.

4. Girl Crush

First of all, seemingly no one knows who Girl Crush is, and that’s fine, but after her red carpet look, everyone is buzzing about her so maybe that makes her ridiculous outfit actually really smart? The singer must have confused the Grammys with a Chucky Cheese performance as she wore a pink bra top with a pink poof skirt completely covered in the balls usually found in play pits. To make matters worse, the creation was actually unraveling at the bottom proving it really was as cheap as it looked.

3. Cee Lo Green

This one speaks for itself as Cee Lo Green decided to go for metal man statue as he was covered head to toe in gold, including gold body paint. Of course the whole thing is part of Green’s new alter ego Gnarly Davidson, but whatever his reasoning is, he looks ridiculous.

2. Lady Gaga

In recent years, Lady Gaga’s red carpet styles have been much less over-the-top than in years past, but she made sure to rectify that at the 2017 Grammys. The singer had one of the most scandalous looks of the night with her spiked jackets, no top, chain-link hot pants and thigh high boots. It was clear she was once again going for the shock factor, but it just wasn’t necessary and was most definitely unflattering.

1. Katy Perry

After a long wait for new music and a high-profile performance from Katy Perry, fans were ecstatic that the beloved singer would be attending and performing at the 2017 Grammy Awards. Unfortunately her big comeback was a little underwhelming thanks to her extremely strange Tom Ford gown. Her new blonde hair may have looked nice, but the rest of her outfit was questionable at best with a metallic top and a marabou-feathered floor-lentgth skirt which had many comparing the singer to a feather duster.
