14 Highly Underrated Style Icons

When thinking of style icons from decades past, often the first handful of people to come to mind are Audrey Hepburn, Jackie O, the Olsen twins and Meghan Markle. Although these ladies are all well-deserving of their fashion icon label, there are also a few style queens that have been overlooked in the past. Follow along for 14 highly underrated style icons who deserve a little more praise:

14. Millie Bobby Brown

Millie Bobby Brown may only be 14 years old, but she’s made huge waves in the fashion industry in Hollywood! She’s mastered age-appropriate, classy dressing yet still always styles her outfits in a super fashion-forward, youthful way. We love that she still mixes in girly pink and sequins, yet styles them so they look mature and professional rather than childish.

13. Queen Letizia

When thinking of stylish royal figures, the first royals to come to mind are likely Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle. There is, however, a royal figure that’s been completely overlooked — Queen Letizia of Spain! Her looks are quite bold and daring compared to the British royal family, but she always looks polished and professional. This olive green cape and dress combo is the perfect example of that, especially since she topped the look with an edgy snakeskin bag and pumps.

12. Lee Radziwill

Jackie Kennedy Onassis received worldwide acclaim for her chic and polished style, but we think that her sister Lee Radziwell was just as stylish, if not more so! Lee was a New York socialite and was often spotted alongside her sister in shift dresses, tweed suits, and luxurious fur coats. Her look was undeniably elegant but also had a glamorous, posh vibe that made her stand out in comparison to her rather demure sister.

11. Lupita Nyong’o

There is not one red carpet that Lupita Nyong’o hasn’t dazzled on since she’s been launched into the Hollywood scene, which is why we think she’s an underrated style icon. The star consistently steps out in numbers that are both unique and glamorous, which is all a part of her charm. She isn’t one for slip dresses or simplicity, which is why we love keeping tabs on her style and seeing what bold number she’s going to wear next.

10. Emily Ratajowski

Instagram star and model Emily Ratajowski made one of the biggest fashion statements of the year when she married her boyfriend in a secret ceremony wearing a mustard suit from Zara and a black wide brim hat. The fashion moment was fearless and bold, which is why we think she’s an underrated style icon in the Hollywood scene and deserves much more sartorial praise.

9. Olivia Culpo

Olivia Culpo is another model that is highly underrated when it comes to her style. Culpo has a seriously enviable figure that could pull off almost anything and she definitely takes advantage of that. She’s far from basic when it comes to her style and is often the first to try a trend or even starts them herself.

8. Ali MacGraw

Ali MacGraw was quite influential in the world of fashion in the ’60s and ’70s, but she often isn’t the first person who comes to mind when thinking of style icons! MacGraw had a polished take on the hippie style of the ’70s and defined the fashion of the era with her bohemian and preppy American style. MacGraw’s charm lay in her ability to look relaxed and effortless while still staying classic.

7. Kaia Gerber

Supermodel Cindy Crawford, with her distinctive beauty mark and voluminous curls, undeniably left a lasting impression on the modeling industry. There was a period of time in the 2000s where she graced every magazine cover and was spotted walking the runway of every luxury brand. Years later, her legacy seems to be going strong through her daughter, 16-year old Kaia Gerber, who looks nearly identical to her mother. Gerber has debuted on quite a few designer runways this past year and has proven to have an innate sense of fashion just like Cindy!

6. Lily Aldridge

Lily Aldridge was a fashion icon long before her days on the Victoria’s Secret Runway! Her style combines effortless off-duty dressing with an indie rock and roll edge, likely a vibe inspired by her rocker Kings of Leon boyfriend. Aldridge’s fashion is always quite simplistic and laid-back, rarely opting for any outfit that’s overaccessorized or overdone. We often coin many Victoria Secret angels as bona fide style icons, but Lily Aldridge admittedly is one of the most underrated of the bunch!

5. Solange Knowles

Everyone knows that Beyonce has a reputation for her fearless and iconic style, but many forget that her sister Solange is just as fierce! Solange completed a whopping six quick changes for her wedding, which alone makes her an instant style icon. Aside from this, Solange also has had quite a few swoon-worthy red carpet moments, including her out-of-the-box Met Gala looks or her elegant gala outfits.

4. Elizabeth Olsen

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen brought their fame from the television screen to the fashion industry when they launched their fashion empire and became some of the world’s most renowned style icons. Although these two are well-deserving of their titles, there is one Olsen that is often overlooked when it comes to style. Although not as experimental as her sisters, Elizabeth has proven that she is poised, polished and even sometimes bohemian, which undeniably makes her an underrated style icon in our books!

3. Vanessa Hudgens

Vanessa Hudgens may have risen to fame on Disney channel, but she’s most definitely known for more than that in 2018 and it’s about time she gets some recognition for it! The star arguably coined “festival fashion” with her statement bohemian Coachella looks that have now become a fashion revolution. Aside from her festival attire, Hudgens has proven to be just as stylish on the streets with her fashion-forward casualwear that often has hipster and ’70s undertones.

2. Bianca Jagger

Bianca Jagger solidified her status as a style icon when she married Mick Jagger and was launched into the spotlight. Although she was undeniably iconic, Cher, Farrah Fawcett, and Jackie O all seemed to have overshadowed her as decades have passed. In retrospect, we definitely think that Bianca’s style has been underrated. She understood the simplicity of clean lines and always added her own personal twist to a look, whether it be feathered necklaces, tassels or a unique headpiece.

1. Hailey Baldwin

Long before her engagement to Justin Bieber, Hailey Baldwin was a clear style icon, but remained relatively unrecognized for it! Her friendships with the Kardashians and Hadid’s seemed to overshadow her own stellar personal style, but we’ve definitely seen the error of our ways. Baldwin has had more than a handful of swoon-worthy and sparkling red carpet moments and has just as pristine of a track record when it comes to her sporty and chic street style.
