There are couples on daytime soaps who simply have an incredible love story…and then there are couples who fire up our daytime television screens with passion! Whether they are falling in love, or embarking on a scandalous affair against their partners – some couples simply have a spark when it comes to soap opera love scenes. The following are the best of the best in the soap world when it comes to the steamiest love affairs.

6. Will Horton and Sonny Kiriakis– Days of Our Lives

This couple makes the list for a few reasons. As the first official homosexual couple on Days of Our Lives (DOOL), Will and Sonny’s relationship was groundbreaking in the land of soap operas. Many viewers hadn’t seen two men (or women) kiss on a daytime screen — Will and Sonny positively pushed the envelope in this regard. As gay love scenes still tend to be considered risque, the scenes between these two can defiantly be considered steamy. Favorite ones to note: the first time the duo made love and their shower scene together…steamy on so many levels!

5. Elizabeth Webber and Nikolas Cassadine – General Hospital

Sometimes the steamiest love affairs are those that are forbidden. Such was the case in 2009. Just as Elizabeth Webber had begun to mend fences with her long time love, Lucky Spencer. She was somehow drawn to his brother Nikolas. Sure, Elizabeth and Nikolas were friends, mainly due to the fact that she was BFFs with Nikolas’ soul mate (who passed away), Emily. However, when Nikolas grew fascinated with Elizabeth, she somehow started to look at her brother-in-law in a new light, and it seemed like nothing could keep these two lovebirds apart. Along the way, GH fans enjoyed some steamy love scenes between the two, and even though they are not together today, the chemistry between the duo still stands. Who could forget their steamy love scene that took place in the great Victor Newman’s office? The duo did the deed in the workspace of the most powerful man in Genoa City, not to mention the fact that he was Sharon’s father-in-law, the grandfather to her children, and Adam’s dad. Speaking of Genoa City, what started off as an affair that broke up their other marriages, turned into a steamy and passionate love story between two Y&R characters that fans normally wouldn’t have coupled up. Evil, manipulative Phyllis reeled in the good guy-next-door, Nick. It seems he fell in love with not only her good side, but her bad side as well. Whether they were romping in the shower, making love at the Newman stables, or making out at home, Nick and Phyllis always added an element of heat when it came to their steamy love affair.

2. Sami and E.J. DiMera – Days of Our Lives

It’s no secret that Sami and E.J. shared a love/hate relationship, sprinkled with a lot of passion. Oddly enough, the heat seemed to heighten whenever they were at odds, or angry at each other. At the end of the day, DOOL viewers got rewarded with some pretty intense love scenes when these two weren’t getting along. Such was the case when it came to one of the steamiest love scenes the couple shared, which was the night in 2011 when they thought their son, little Johnny had passed away. While they hated each other and both had significant others in their lives, they managed to steam up Days screens everywhere with a passionate love scene … hair-pulling and all!
