Being a film or TV star sometimes feels like the easiest way to get rich — but you might be surprised to hear how much some actors are worth compared with their contemporaries. We’ve complied an estimated net worth list of some popular actors and actresses from the 90s to see who’s still rolling in dough and who should probably get back to work.

10. Shannen Doherty

Net worth: $10 million. Starting as a child actor in projects such as Little House on the Prairie, Shannen Doherty became a household name when she joined the cast of Beverly Hills 90210 in 1990, playing Brenda. Since then, she’s acted in Mallrats and Charmed, and also had her own reality show on Oxygen. (We’re trying to forget her stint on Dancing With the Stars when she was kicked off the competition in the second round.) She’s also kept busy with projects like All I Want For Christmas. But all things considered, $10 million doesn’t seem so bad!

9. Kevin Costner

Net worth: $150 million. It’s hard to think of’ 90s movies without thinking of Kevin Costner, who starred in classics such as Field of Dreams, Dances with Wolves, Tin Cup and The Bodyguard. In later years, he appeared in the Western TV miniseries Hatfields & McCoys, in addition to the Jack Ryan movies, Draft Day and Man of Steel. He’s a consistently good actor who connects with audiences, so it’s clear from his net worth of $150 million that he’s continuing to be paid a hefty price for his appearances (and that he’s got somebody good managing behind all that cash).

8. Pamela Anderson

Net worth: $5 million. Most of us remember Pamela Anderson as a steamy lifeguard from Baywatch, but she also appeared on Dancing with the Stars and has done some voice work for Futurama. Her net worth is reported at $5 million, but she made headlines in 2012 for being nearly $400,000 in tax debt that she owed to the US government. Luckily, earlier this year she pocketed $1 million in the tumultuous divorce settlement from her third husband, Rick Salomon.

7. Alicia Silverstone

Net worth: $16 million. Alicia Silverstone won over our hearts in the classic 1995 comedy Clueless, but after the show ended she wasn’t able to keep her acting career going at the same level. However, she pivoted and became a guru in the fields of veganism and motherhood, releasing the book The Kind Diet, which she turned in a website and lifestyle brand of its own (she’s also come out with the book The Kind Mama). She’s now worth a whopping $16 million, proving that it pays to become an expert in something other than acting!

6. Julia Roberts

Net worth: $140 million. Julia Roberts was the romantic comedy sweetheart of the 1990s, winning our hearts in Pretty Woman, My Best Friend’s Wedding, Runaway Bride and Notting Hill. She’s worth $140 million, just $10 million shy of Kevin Costner. She only made $300,000 for Pretty Woman, but afterwards her stardom rose and she became quite the bankable star. In fact, she was paid an unprecedented $25 million for her role in Mona Lisa Smile in 2003. Her net worth was a big part of the story when it was rumored last year that she was getting a divorce from husband Danny Moder. More recently, Julia has brushed off those rumors — maybe it would just be too hard to split up those assets?

5. Joe Pesci

Net worth: $50 million. Here’s one that might surprise you: Joe Pesci, one of the ridiculous robbers in Christmas classic Home Alone, is worth $50 million! After appearing in other movies such as Raging Bull, Once Upon a Time in America, Goodfellas, JFK, My Cousin Vinny and the Lethal Weapon series, Joe took a six-year break from acting to focus on a career in musicals (we’re guessing it didn’t go so well). He returned to acting in 2006 with a role in The Good Shepherd, but hasn’t done much since then.

4. Winona Ryder

Net worth:  $14 million. The classic offbeat’ 90s It Girl of Edward Scissorhands, Reality Bites, Dracula and Girl, Interrupted, Winona Ryder is now worth $14 million.  You probably also remember the highly-publicized 2001 tabloid story about Winona shoplifting thousands of items from Saks Fifth Avenue in Beverly Hills, California. It seemed like an odd thing for a rich celebrity to do, but Winona later said in an interview that she had been having trouble for several years before the shoplifting incident, and that it ended up being good for her since she needed to take some time off from acting.

3. Jason Preistley

Net worth: $12 million. Beverly Hills, 90210 heartthrob Jason Preistley is worth even more than his co-star Shannen Doherty. During his time on the show, he also starred in the films Tombstone, Calendar Girl and Love and Death on Long Island, but was unable to really keep things going after the show ended (though he did direct some episodes of his show as well as some music videos). He was arrested for drunk driving and went to rehab, after which he began a career as a race car driver, but has since retired.

2. Christian Slater

Net worth: $20 million. Christian Slater’s two highest-grossing films from the ’90s were Interview With the Vampire and Robin Hood, but he’s also remembered for Heathers, True Romance and Very Bad Things. He’s actually remained very active on-screen compared to his 90s counterparts. You can currently catch him on USA’s Mr. Robot, and he’s also acted in TV shows Mind Games, Archer, Breaking In, My Own Worst Enemy, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Robot Chicken. His list of credits is endless, which is why $20 million feels like kind of a small chunk of change.

1. Wesley Snipes

Net worth: $10 million. Wesley Snipes has one of the more serious tales of Hollywood money trouble: he got out of prison in 2013 after serving three years for tax evasion. He was found guilty of failure to pay nearly $15 million in dividends to the government for his earnings from the years 1999 to 2001. Wesley claimed that his tax advisers, who also went to jail, told him that he didn’t owe anything. Luckily, the Demolition Man star has made a comeback, starring in Expendables 3, The Player and Chi-raq.
