Singer/actress JENNIFER LOPEZ was inspired to start her own charity for women and children following a frightening health scare with her daughter.
The On the Floor hitmaker was one of the honourees at Variety magazine’s Power of Women luncheon last Friday (10Oct14), where she was recognised for her organisation the Lopez Family Foundation, which aims to improve the health and well-being of women and children.
Lopez revealed she came up with the idea for the charity when she needed immediate medical care for her daughter, Emme, with ex-husband Marc Anthony.
During the event, she told Access Hollywood, “Shortly after Emme was born, she had a weird watery bump on her head and I didn’t know what it was. She wasn’t even a couple months old. I rushed her to the hospital in the middle of the night. “I remember looking at Marc and going, ‘Something’s wrong with Emme’ and he was like, ‘Everything is going to be okay.'”
While Lopez did not disclose the exact cause of now-four-year-old Emme’s scare, both she and twin brother Max are in good health.
