BLAKE SHELTON has returned to the top of the U.S. albums chart with BRINGING BACK THE SUNSHINE.
The country singer’s new release has debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 countdown thanks to opening week sales of 101,000.
He last topped the charts in 2011 with Red River Blue. His latest success means that both Shelton and his wife, Miranda Lambert, have landed chart-toppers in 2014 – her album Platinum reached number one in June (14).
Meanwhile, another country act, Lady Antebellum, debut at two on the new chart with 747, which ironically sold 74,000 copies in its first week.
Barbra Streisand’s duets album Partners stays put at three, while last week’s number one, Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga’s Cheek to Cheek, falls to four and Prince’s Art Official Age debuts at five.
The pop superstar also becomes the first act to debut two albums in the top 10 in the same week for a decade – his Plectrumelectrum collaboration with girl band 3rdEyeGirl enters the chart at number eight.
