Over the past decade, so much has happened with the royal family. From engagements, weddings and babies to international tours and big wedding anniversaries, follow along as we look at some major royal moments from the last decade (2010-2019):

19. Prince William and Kate Middleton’s Engagement

After eight years of dating, Prince William finally popped the question to Kate Middleton in October 2010 while the two were on holiday in Kenya and, of course, she accepted. The two announced their engagement one month later and then gave their first interview together.

18. Prince William and Kate Middleton’s Wedding Day

Prince William and Kate Middleton tied the knot at Westminster Abbey on April 29, 2011. Middleton wore a satin and lace Alexander McQueen dress while William wore the scarlet uniform of the Colonel of the Irish Guards. More than two billion people watched the ceremony worldwide.

17. Prince William and Kate’s First International Tour

In 2011, William and Kate embarked on their first international tour together just two months after their wedding. They traveled to Canada where they visited several Canadian provinces, including Ontario, Quebec, Prince Edward Island, Northwest Territories and Alberta. They then headed South to the United States and visited Los Angeles where they attended a star-studded event hosted by BAFTA.

16. Prince William and Kate Middleton Announce They Are Expecting Their First Child

Following Prince William and Kate Middleton’s 2011 wedding, the world was waiting for them to announce that they were expecting their first royal baby. When that announcement finally came in December 2012, it was a major royal moment.

15. Prince George’s Birth

The only thing more exciting than a royal wedding is a royal baby! In July 2013, Prince William and Kate Middleton welcomed their first child together, a boy named that they named George Alexander Louis. Kate presented him outside the Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital in this blue and white Jenny Packham dress alongside William.

14. Prince George’s First Tour

Prince George accompanied his parents on their tour of Australia and New Zealand in 2014 where he ended up stealing the show during the few appearances he made. The nine-month-old baby visited Sydney’s Taronga Zoo where he met a Bilby and took part in Plunkett’s Parent’s Group where he played with a room full of other tots.

13. Prince William and Kate Middleton Announce They Are Expecting Their Second Child

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge announced that they were expecting their second child in September 2014. While it was a happy time for the royal family, Kate was suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum, acute morning sickness, which also affected her pregnancy with Prince George.

12. Queen Elizabeth Becomes the Longest-Reigning British Monarch

After Thailand’s King Bhumibol Adulyadej passed away in October 2016 after 70 years and four months on the throne, Queen Elizabeth II became the longest-reigning monarchy with her 64-year reign.  A year earlier, she became the longest-reigning monarch in British history when she surpassed her great-great-grandmother Queen Victoria, whose reign lasted a total of 63 years, seven months and two days.

11. Princess Charlotte’s Birth

It was no secret that Prince William and Kate Middleton were planning on having more than one child, so when it was announced that they were expecting their second, there was a lot of excitement. Charlotte Elizabeth Diana was born on May 2, 2015, at St. Mary’s Hospital and Kate presented her to the world in a memorable yellow, floral Jenny Packham dress.

10. Prince William and Kate Middleton Announce They Are Expecting Their Third Child

In September 2017, Prince William and Kate Middleton announced that they were expanding their family yet again! While it was a surprise, at the same time, it kind of wasn’t. There had been rumors circulating a year earlier that Kate was keen to have another baby. Turns out they were true!

9. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Engagement

Prince Harry had trouble finding his happily ever after, so when he finally found love with Meghan Markle, there was a lot of excitement. It was definitely a big royal moment when it was announced that Harry had proposed to her in November 2017! He proposed with a ring made by Cleave and Company and used one diamond sourced from Botswana and two smaller stones from Princess Diana’s collection.

8. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Wedding

One of the highlights of 2018 was Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s May wedding, which took place at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. Markle wore a simple but gorgeous dress by the British designer Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy with the Queen Mary diamond bandeau tiara and a 16-foot silk veil embroidered with 55 flowers, which represented the 53 countries of the Commonwealth.

7. Prince Philip’s Retirement

In August 2017, after 65 years of service, Prince Philip retired from public engagements at the age of 96. As the longest-serving consort in British history, he conducted approximately 22,219 solo engagements, 637 solo overseas visits, and 5,496 speeches.

6. Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip Celebrate 70 Years of Marriage

On November 20, 2017, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. They were married in 1947 at Westminster Abbey when Elizabeth was just a 21 years old princess and Philip was 26.

5. Prince Louis’ Birth

Prince Louis’ birth was one of the highlights of 2018. When he was finally born on April 23, 2018, and Kate and William did the big reveal, it was an iconic moment, as Kate was dressed in a similar outfit to when Princess Diana revealed Harry more than three decades earlier.

4. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Announce They Are Expecting Their First Child

It was no secret that following their May 2018 wedding that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were looking to start a family immediately – and that’s exactly what they did. In October 2018, they announced that they were expecting and that Meghan was already 12 weeks along! It was such a big moment for Harry and Meghan, and for all those who watched their romance blossom over the previous couple of years.

3. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s First Tour

In October 2018, Prince Harry and Meghan embarked on their first royal tour together where they spent 16 days in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and the Kingdom of Tonga. It ended up being a resounding success for the newly married couple. Together they undertook 76 engagements where they were consistently met with large, excited crowds.

2. Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s Wedding

While Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding was the biggest event of 2018, Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s wedding was definitely up there too. After dating for about seven years, the couple tied the knot on October 12, 2018 at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. Eugenie stunned in a dress designed by Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos, which featured an open back that showed her scar from her scoliosis operation.

1. Archie’s Birth

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle welcoming their son was the biggest royal moment of 2019. The couple announced the child’s birth on their Instagram page on May 6, 2019, the same day that he was born, but they waited a few days to announce the child’s name – Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. While there was a lot of excitement about Archie’s birth, there was even more disappointment that they didn’t go with a more traditional name.
