11. Stacy Haiduk’s 80s Moves

An intrepid DOOL fan posted an 80s music video on Twitter, claiming that one of the female dancers was Stacy Haiduk (Kristen/Susan). Sure enough, Haiduk retweeted the video with a laugh, writing, “How I paid my bills in NYC! Doing music videos!” The actress narrowed the time of that video down to 1986, but we can’t help thinking that Haiduk could still bust a move or two!

10. EJ Gets Payback!

In a new interview with Digital Journal, Dan Feuerriegel chatted about passing the 100 episode mark as EJ DiMera. Beyond that, he also disclosed what he loved most about playing the character. “I do love playing the bad guy. That is always fun, and the writers have been writing some cool and fun bad guy scenes,” Feuerriegel confirmed. “I am excited to keep digging my teeth into those scenes.”

So while EJ is presently holed up in Statesville for falsely kidnapping his wife, it sounds like the notorious DiMera is about to get some payback!

9. Irizarry’s Drug Daze

DOOL alum Vincent Irizarry sat down with Maurice Benard for the General Hospital star’s State Of Mind Youtube show and discussed how self-destructive he was in his formative years. (This episode was taped in advance of his recent emergency surgery, from which he’s currently recovering).

“I’ve always had a wanderlust – a lust for life, a desire to acquire life experiences, to have a life fully lived,” Irizarry explained. “Which is a good thing, but it can lead to destructive decisions.” The actor goes on to tell a story about missing an incredible acting job because he’d been up late drinking and doing drugs the night before.

“It was an epiphany,” the star said. “I literally had this eye-opening moment right then, and I literally stopped everything. I stopped drugs.” Looking at Irizarry’s accomplishments, there’s no denying that he made the right choice!

8. Ron Carlivati Gets Testy… Again

Being a head writer can be a pretty thankless job; if you’re satisfying one half of the audience, you’re likely outraging the other half! For that reason, Ron Carlivati probably shouldn’t be on Twitter. He’s gotten pretty salty in the past and recently shared his annoyance with yet another zinger. “Everyone tell me your job so I can tweet at you how you’re doing it wrong,” he tweeted out. Maybe it’s time to take a little social media sabbatical, Ron…

7. DOOL Wins Writers Guild Award

It looks like Carlivati is getting the last laugh over those irate fans! After all, he and the DOOL writing team just won a 2022 Writers Guild Award for Daytime Drama! According to Soap Opera Network, the event, which was held remotely, required that all nominees write an acceptance speech in case they won. Upon receiving his trophy, Carlivati remarked, “We may or may not have won but either way I’m gonna keep this one!”

For those curious, the three scripts that DOOL submitted for consideration were as follows: the one in which Doug told Marlena that he was possessed, the Thanksgiving episode in which Doug and Julie battled the Devil, and the Christmas exorcism.

6. How Harry Met Salem

It’s already been a year since Jackée Harry introduced Paulina Price to Salem. How did she land the role? Simply, she was a DOOL fan herself. In an interview to mark her anniversary, Harry shared that DOOL producers saw her tweeting about “crazy Maggie Horton” and approached her. “They wrote the part specifically for me, and I like that because it makes me feel important,” Harry said, according to SoapHub. So, how about we get Paulina in a room with Maggie, already?!

5. Don’t Quit Your Day Job?

Back for a short run as Will Horton, Chandler Massey recently shared how he manages to squeeze DOOL time in around his day job as a Data Visualization Specialist in Atlanta. “When Days asks if I want to come out for a week, sometimes I do double duty,” Massey explained to Soap Opera Digest. “That means cutting it a little close in terms of meetings and things like that when I’m in Los Angeles. It’s just earlier days. My company is on East Coast time. So if I’m jumping into meetings at 8 a.m., it means 5 a.m. on the West Coast.”

Luckily the double duty isn’t too taxing, as Massey can slide easily into his alter ego nowadays. “I feel like I’ve put in my 10,000 hours of being Will, so it feels seamless. At this point, it’s kind of second nature.”

4. Sonny Gets Contract Status

Shortly after making his first appearance as Sonny Kiriakis on DOOL, Zach Tinker has landed contract status with the NBC soap. Granted, he had broken in the character on Peacock projects like Beyond Salem and A Very Salem Christmas, but it appears that he’ll be sticking around the network soap for a while yet! Having just discussed Chandler Massey’s tight schedule, however, does this mean that “WilSon” won’t stick together?

3. Galen’s Wild Date Night

Galen Gering and his wife, Jenna, expected some fireworks when they took in a John Mayer concert for date night. However, as Galen tells it, they didn’t quite match the anticipation of the guy sitting behind them. “Excited for John Mayer but not as excited as the guy behind us!” Gering joked in his Instagram. Otherwise, it’s a beautiful photo of the couple!

2. Bryan Dattilo’s Alien Abduction

While Lucas has left Salem with his captive, er… lover, Sami on DOOL, actor Bryan Dattilo is getting immersed in his new paranormal podcast Conspiracies Inc. The first season is dedicated to alien life, a subject that, as Soaps.com reveals, Dattilo has had a close encounter with. In the newest episode, Dattilo voluntarily undergoes hypnosis to recall an alien abduction that he believes occurred back in 1993. It gets pretty intense, but the entire, borderline traumatic account is available to view here!

1. Vanessa A. Williams Returns To DOOL

Vanessa A. Williams is back on DOOL playing the legacy character Dr. Valerie Grant. Naturally, Valerie is back in Salem to attend to her fallen son, Eli (Lamon Archey), who is in critical condition. Will the good doctor stick around Salem long enough to ensure her son survives and his shooter is brought to justice? Let’s hope so!
