9. Still A Dancing Queen

In our last DOOL News Round-Up, we argued that Stacy Haiduk (Kristen/Susan) could probably still bust a move… and now she’s proving that point! “Let’s have some fun today, shall we?” the actress wrote on Instagram. “Happy Wednesday! Love and Light!” We should all treat Wednesdays like Haiduk does!

8. Will Ben Weston Stick Around?

Now that Victoria Konefal (Ciara) has wrapped another stint on DOOL, while retaining her recurring status, there’s fresh speculation over what the future holds for Robert Scott Wilson (Ben). Much like his on-screen love interest, Wilson taped all of his current storyline footage back in November. According to his IMDb page, Wilson has the TV series Bros in pre-production, as well as another project called Under the Sky. So, could Wilson be on his way out of Salem — for now, if not for good?

7. Belle And Jan Make A Great Team

Given all the trouble Jan Spears (played by Heather Lindell) gives Belle (Martha Madison), it might surprise viewers to learn that the two actresses are very close! “We have a lot in common,” Madison told SoapHub. “Working with her is a great way to not only have my friend back here but also a way to have a great co-star with whom I can do scenes.”

The two actresses even collaborated on Jan’s seduction of Shawn. “The night before we shot the show in which ‘Belle’ was ripping Shawn’s clothes off, I FaceTimed with Heather. I knew how I wanted to play it, but I wanted to hear how she would have done it, to see if I could pick up any mannerisms and hear any lines she might particularly punch. That was really, really helpful.”

6. Doesn’t Salem Need Realtors, Too?

In that same interview, Madison revealed that when Heather Lindell isn’t causing havoc in Salem, she’s a real estate agent. Curiously enough, so is DOOL alum Kyle Lowder (Rex Brady) now! The former soaps star has made it official on his Instagram, stating, “As someone who has had a 22 year love affair with Montecito and Santa Barbara, I could not be more grateful to be taking my business here.” Can’t Rex stick around Salem doing that?

5. Raven’s Message To Uncomfortable Viewers

When Raven Bowens found out her character, Chanel Dupree, would become interested in another woman, she realized that some audiences might not accept the twist as readily as she did. But to her, that’s part of the point. “Not everybody is comfortable with it,” the actress told Soap Opera Digest. “To be able to place it in the homes of people who — maybe it makes them a little uncomfortable — is really an honor and a privilege because I feel like it’s necessary. I feel like inclusion is mandatory.”

4. The Pioneering Women Of DOOL

Two iconic DOOL actresses, Suzanne Rogers (Maggie) and Susan Seaforth Hayes (Julie), got together on the NBC soap’s Youtube to celebrate Women’s History Month. As the two discussed working together, they also referenced some legendary females who made DOOL what it is today: Pat Falken Smith (a head writer in the 70s and 80s), Frances Reid (who played Alice Horton) and, of course, Betty Corday (co-creator).

“I think we all owe the ladies that came before us in this business a debt of gratitude,” Seaforth Hayes stated. “There’s a resurgence of interest in the contribution of women who are, shall we say, past twenty-five, and are still delivering the goods.” Let’s all hope that trend continues!

3. Brandon’s Appetizers Get The Side-Eye From Ex

Brandon Barash (Jake) and Kirsten Storms may no longer be a real-life soap opera couple, but they are doing a great job of co-parenting their daughter, Harper. And while Storms had nothing but good things to say about the DOOL star’s “Daddy/Daughter Dance pre-party”, she threw some playful shade as well. “Brandon’s charcuterie boards were a hit blah blah blah… I still think he copied something he found after lurking Pinterest in the middle of the night,” Storms joked.

2. Jake’s No Cheater

Even though his character is getting pretty friendly with Ava right now, Jake portrayer Brandon Barash is no cheater. Kirsten Storms followed that playful roasting by getting serious about her relationship with Barash, while a guest on Maurice Benard’s State Of Mind. “What’s the most helpful to our situation is, Brandon and I were friends for seven years before we got together,” Storms explained of the couple’s co-parenting success. When Benard addressed rumors that there had been infidelity between her and the Days Of Our Lives star, Storms shook her head. “That was never an issue in our relationship,” she stated. “I would not be talking to [Barash] now if he had cheated on me.”

1. Thaao’s Least-Favorite Burger

Soaps legend Thaao Penghlis recently took part in Soap Opera Digest’s column Take Five. When asked about the weirdest thing he’s eaten, Penghlis’s answer was indeed weird.  “A crocodile hamburger,” Penghlis answered. “I took one bite and thought, ‘Not necessary.’” Thank you, Mr. Penghlis, for taste-testing crocodile hamburgers so that we don’t have to!
