7 Surprising Celebrity Gun Lovers

There are countless celebrities who really value their second Amendment rights and will do anything to protect them. Robert De Niro and Clint Eastwood are two of them. Learning that they were pro guns, however, was hardly surprising given how violent their movies typically are. We personally would have been more surprised if they had been in favor of stricter gun control laws. Since gun control is such a hot topic, we decided to find some celebrities who love their guns, but aren’t quite so obvious about it. Here are 7 celebrity gun lovers who will definitely surprise you!

7. Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt

Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt love fame just about as much as they love their right to bear arms. In a British documentary titled “Speidi: Scandal, Secrets & Surgery,” they showed off their arsenal of weapons, which included an FBI sniper rifle, a Benelli semi-automatic shotgun and a rapid engagement precision rifle.

“This is one of my favorite activities,” Montag said of her love of shooting. “It gives me a new sense of self every time I do it. It makes me feel proud to be an American. I’d like to say something about guns as well. I think it is one of the greatest rights to be an American. I personally didn’t feel safe especially with crazed fans out there and stalkers. If somebody broke into our home, I think this is the only thing that would actually save my life.” This should be enough for any lawmaker to consider tighter gun control legislation. These two should not be allowed to own these weapons!

6. Brad Pitt

Brad Pitt is a huge fan of guns. According to him, he has been a gun owner since kindergarten and he’s not exaggerating! “There’s a rite of passage where I grew up of inheriting your ancestors’ weapons,” he told The Independent. “My brother got my dad’s. I got my grandfather’s shotgun when I was in kindergarten.” When he was only eight-years-old, he fired a gun for the first time.

The Oscar-nominated actor has said in the past that he doesn’t feel as though his house is safe unless he has a gun somewhere. “It’s very strange, but I feel better having a gun. I don’t feel the house is completely safe if I don’t have one hidden somewhere. That’s my thinking, right or wrong,” he told the Daily Mail. But don’t worry, Pitt has also said that his father instilled in him a sense of respect for guns, so we’re pretty sure he uses them responsibly.

5. Whoopi Goldberg

In 2012, Whoopi Goldberg spoke in favor on “The View” of stricter controls on guns after the Sandy Hook Elementary School Shooting. According to her, assault weapons, like the one used in the shooting, should be banned. “You can’t justify owning an assault rifle. It’s a weapon of mass destruction,” she said. “There’s no excuse for anyone to own one.”

While Goldberg may be against people owning assault rifles, she isn’t opposed to people owning other types of guns. Several months prior to the Sandy Hook shootings, she mentioned on “The View” that she belongs to the NRA, an institution that protects the right for people to bear arms. “I’m an NRA member, as you know or probably don’t know,” she said. “But I don’t mind having to register and let them know that I have them…I want to know that there’s at least some way to prevent folks who are just getting out from mental institutions [from getting guns].”

4. Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie is another celebrity who believes in gun ownership. She owns some and keeps them in the house she shares with Brad Pitt. “I bought original, real guns of the type we used in ‘Tomb Raider’ for security. Brad and I are not against having a gun in the house, and we do have one,” she told The Daily Mail. “Yes, I’d be able to use it if I had to. I could handle myself. I think there are certain combat skills that would come out. If anybody comes into my home and tries to hurt my kids, I’ve no problem shooting them.”

We doubt that any of those guns will ever come in handy when she’s at home with the kids; however, when she’s out saving the world, one troubled country at a time, we wonder if she carries guns with her then. If anything bad were to happen to her, we imagine it would be when she’s in war-torn places like the ones that she visits on her humanitarian missions.

3. Miranda Lambert

Miranda Lambert has been using a gun since childhood. “My dad was a police officer my whole life. And so he’d come home and lay a gun on the coffee table, and he taught me early on what a gun is used for, how to use a gun,” she told HuffPo Live. “I had a BB gun when I was like, five. It’s just part of our life. I never preach guns one way or the other – this is the way I grew up.”

A couple of years ago, the country singer told Self that she carries a gun around with her for self-protection. “I carry a weapon. I got a death threat a few years ago and was really scared. But I don’t want bodyguards. I am my own security,” she said. For anyone who has even thought about hurting Lambert, you should be aware of one thing – she reportedly has a better shot than her husband, Blake Shelton!

2. Amber Heard

Amber Heard was born and raised in Texas and, just like any Texan, she loves guns. According to her, she’s been fully trained on how to use one and she’s got a really good shot.

“I’m a good shot and I love guns – I own several,” she told the Mail Online back in 2010. “I don’t have children in the house, so I sleep with my gun in a place that’s close enough that if I needed to protect myself, I could. It’s not in bed with me, though; it’s in a safe location. I’m fully trained and I’m an active member of a gun club. I’m definitely pro-gun. As Americans we’ve been told since we were babies that we have the right to own guns but I think there needs to be reform, because over 30,000 people in the U.S. died from gunshot wounds in the last year alone.”

1. Johnny Depp

When he was younger, Johnny Depp was really experienced with guns. He has some pretty fond memories of going out with his friends and shooting at inanimate objects. “We would just go out and line up a bunch of cans and shoot with rifles, handguns and at times, submachine guns,” he said in 2009. “When I was a kid it was a controlled atmosphere, we weren’t shooting at humans – we were shooting at cans and bottles mostly. I will most certainly take my kids out for target practice.”

Something tells us that, if he ends up marrying Amber Heard, his children probably will end up learning how to fire a gun. Like Depp, Heard grew up around guns and has been going to target practice her whole life. We think that there is a distinct possibility that she might have a better shot than him. She’s been holding a gun since she could walk!
