7 Celebrities With Physical Deformities

We always think that stars are as close to perfect as people get. In magazines, on TV or in the movies, they always look immaculate. Any flaws they do have are airbrushed out or hidden with makeup or clever camera angles. Even though there is a lot of evidence out there to suggest that these people are without flaws, we have to keep in mind that most of them have defects, just like us. In fact, with some research we have discovered that there are many stars in Hollywood with physical deformities that might surprise you – here is a list of 7 with pictures!

7. Kate Bosworth

Kate Bosworth was born with heterochromia iridum, a condition that left her with a hazel right eye and a blue left eye. On film, she usually wears contacts to hide her condition. The only film where this wasn’t the case was in “Superman Returns.” While we like to think that her two different colored eyes make her look unique, she is quick to point out that the condition is a defect. “I actually notice it more when the light is very gray,” the fashionable star told Allure.

6. Billy Corgan

Billy Corgan was born with a condition called Klippel-Trenaunay syndrome (KTS), which affects the development of blood vessels, soft tissues and bones. This is why he has a red birthmark called a port-wine stain that covers his left hand and much of his left arm. The lead singer of the Smashing Pumpkins suffers some physical impairment due to this congenital circulatory disorder; however, it does not affect his ability to play guitar.

5. Padma Lakshmi

When she was only 14 years old, Padma Lakshmi was in an awful car crash. According to “Top Chef” host, the car she was in skidded off the road and smashed into a tree. Although she survived, she was left with a broken pelvis and a shattered right arm. After she had surgery on her arm, Lakshmi was left with a seven-inch scar between her elbow and her shoulder – but that doesn’t bother her one bit. “I love it because it makes me a person who has an interesting past, and it reminds me that I can survive any pain,” she told Allure magazine.

4. Karolina Kurkova

Karolina Kurkova doesn’t look like she has a belly button. Instead it looks like she has a smooth indentation where her navel should be. According to her rep, the Victoria’s Secret model’s lack of a belly button is the result of “an operation [she had] when she was an infant.” Some speculate that it is result of a corrective surgery at birth for an umbilical hernia or gastroschisis, a condition where the stomach and intestines poke through a hole in the abdominal wall.

3. Matthew Perry

Matthew Perry is missing the top part of his middle finger on his right hand. In photos, it isn’t always very obvious. In the pictures where it is visible, it only looks as though he lost half an inch of it. As the story goes, the “Friends” star lost the top part of his middle finger during a childhood accident. His grandfather reportedly closed the car door on it. We don’t think it is a very noticeable deformity and it obviously hasn’t impeded his career at all.

2. Seal

Seal has scars on his face from discoid lupus erythematosus, a type of lupus that involves only the skin above the neck. There are different reports on when he was diagnosed. Some say it was when he was a child while others insist that it was when he was 23. Over the years, there have been many theories about how Seal got his scars. Some of the more interesting ones allege that they are the result of an injury or an African initiation ritual.

1. Denzel Washington

The Oscar-winning actor has one finger that looks like it doesn’t belong thanks to a childhood basketball accident. He broke the pinky finger on his right hand playing basketball and, since he never had it set properly, it healed in a bent position. To this day, the finger is still crooked. It is bent at the bottom knuckle at a full 45-degree angle away from his other fingers. Let this be a lesson to everyone: If you break a finger, seek medical attention immediately!
