7 Celebrities Living In Their Sister’s Shadow

We feel bad for some celebrity siblings. They obviously want fame and fortune as much as their brothers and sisters but, for whatever reason, they are never able to get it. Maybe they just don’t have what it takes to be an international superstar. We have to give them some credit though – it doesn’t stop them from lusting after it and we personally like that kind of tenacity (in most cases – not all). Here are 7 celebrity siblings who tried to make it happen and failed. Now they’re stuck living in their more successful sisters’ shadows. That’s gotta be a tough life!

7. Ashlee Simpson

When she was younger, Ashlee Simpson wasn’t happy about living in her older sister Jessica’s shadow. She even wrote a song “Shadow” about the experience. When she first shot to fame in 2004, she really tried to differentiate herself from her older sis by dying her hair dark brown and releasing angry and sexually suggestive music. For a brief period, she really did seem to come out of Jessica’s shadow. Unfortunately, it didn’t last. The music thing didn’t really happen for her; however, Jessica is doing well, with her retail empire that is worth $1 billion.

6. Jamie Lynn Spears

Jamie Lynn Spears was really young when her older sister Britney became an international pop sensation and she was still pretty young when she landed the lead role on Nickelodeon’s Zoey 101, which became the highest rated show among tweens. Unfortunately, she was never able to achieve the same level of fame or success as Britney. Jamie Lynn found herself pregnant at 16 with her career on hold. She has since launched a country singing career; however, she’ll never become anything close to the pop icon that Britney is.

5. Ali Lohan

When the Lohan family reality TV show Living Lohan first aired, it was pretty evident that the youngest Lohan daughter Ali was being pushed towards fame in much the same way that Lindsay was. She released a Christmas album, Lohan Christmas, and had a role in a film adaptation of the R.L. Stine horror/fantasy novel Mostly Ghostly: Who Let the Ghosts Out? She has since embarked on a modeling career, but she’s never been able to attain the same level of fame (or notoriety) as her sister Lindsay.

4. Solange Knowles

Solange Knowles has never been as famous or as successful as her older sis Beyonce. Even though she’s written music for her sis and former Destiny’s Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, she has never been as commercially or as critically successful. When she started beating on Beyonce’s husband Jay Z in an elevator at the Met Gala in 2014, she finally started getting the headlines she’s been hungering for, but it didn’t last. Beyonce is still way more famous and way more successful. Poor Solange.

3. Pippa Middleton

Some think that Pippa Middleton really tried to steal her sister Kate’s thunder on her wedding day when she wore that figure-hugging bridesmaid dress. After the wedding, Pippa was everywhere. It was almost like she was courting the spotlight. She was papped constantly; there were rumors that she was getting her own show; she was given £400,000 to write a book on party planning (which was a total failure); and there was even a short 50 minute docu-drama made about her. Unlike her sister Kate, however, Pippa was forgotten almost as quickly as she rose to fame, probably because she didn’t marry up like her sister.

2. Noah Cyrus

Noah Cyrus loves the spotlight. Unfortunately for her, she’s not nearly as famous as her older sister Miley, which means she doesn’t get as much of it as she wants. She tries though. When she was just 9 years old, she would attend events dressed like a little harlot. She would wear short skirts, tons of makeup and she once even posed on a stripper’s pole. These kinds of antics definitely made her more infamous than famous and she’s still a step behind Miley.

1. Kylie Jenner

Being Kendall’s sister can’t be easy. She’s not even 20 and she’s already one of the most famous models on the planet. She’s got a body most women would die for and, for a Kardashian-Jenner, she’s actually kind of likeable. Kylie doesn’t look anything like Kendall. She’s not nearly as tall, skinny or as beautiful. With all the tweaking she’s done with her face, she’s actually starting to look like a mail order version of her half-sister Kim, which isn’t a good thing. Kylie is no doubt successful but with no identifiable talent, she will always be in the shadow of Kendall who busts her butt for her modeling fame.
