Beloved The Young and the Restless actor Kristoff St. John is reportedly seeking treatment after a mental health scare last Wednesday, October 18, according to Entertainment Weekly.
According to the outlet, St. John will be undergoing psychiatric treatment and will be meeting with CBS bosses to discuss the best course of action after the incident. In reports from TMZ, St. John was hospitalized last week and placed under a 72-hour psychiatric evaluation after he allegedly threatened to kill himself with a gun.
TMZ also reported that St. John’s mental health scare was brought on by the upcoming third anniversary of the death of his son Julian, who committed suicide on November 23, 2014 at the age of 24. Shortly after reports surfaced about St. John’s incident, his ex-wife Mia St. John released a statement: “I want the world to know the truth about what is happening with Kristoff, because currently there is inaccurate, and fabricated information being reported by certain online outlets.”
She added, “No parent should ever have to bury their child, and for those who do, it is a nightmare that haunts you forever. The death of our beloved son Julian has taken a toll on both of us. He is an actor and while he may appear whole on the outside, his heart is broken. As a society, we need to start taking mental health seriously and realize that no one is immune.”
St. John is best known for his portrayal of Neil Winters on the hit daytime soap since 1991.
