On Wednesday, May 8, only one day after news broke that Teen Mom 2 star Jenelle Evans had been fired from the hit MTV series, it seems her replacement has already been found!
According to reports from The Ashley, a familiar MTV face will be taking over the spot on Teen Mom 2. The Ashley reports that Jade Cline, who fans might recognize from MTV’s Teen Mom: Young and Pregnant, is the official replacement for Jenelle.
“The network plans to move Jade from ‘Young and Pregnant’ and she will be the fifth girl on ‘Teen Mom 2,” a behind-the-scenes source told The Ashley. “Jade has been filming for ‘Teen Mom 2’ and the other ‘Young and Pregnant’ girls aren’t currently filming.”
The source added that it seems MTV has had Jade as a contingency plan for Jenelle for quite some time because they started filming her at the same time as the other Teen Mom 2 stars: Briana DeJesus, Kailyn Lowry, Chelsea DeBoer and Leah Messer. “The other [‘Teen Mom 2’] girls started filming around when Jade did,” the source said. “They figured if Jenelle wasn’t let go, they could move the Jade footage over and use it on ‘Young and Pregnant.’”
On Tuesday, May 7, MTV announced that they had cut all ties with Jenelle after her husband David Eason shot and killed their family dog Nugget. “MTV ended its relationship with David Eason over a year ago in February 2018 and has not filmed any new episodes of Teen Mom 2 with him since,” an MTV spokesperson said. “Additionally, we have stopped filming with Jenelle Eason as of April 6, 2019 and have no plans to cover her story in the upcoming season.”
Although Jenelle had signed her season 9 contract, MTV decided to extend the season with season 9B which meant they had the “right to drop Jenelle” if they wanted to because she was essentially a “freelancer” for the extension.
